The 2026 Charleston Airshow, originally planned as a two-day event at Joint Base Charleston, has been modified to a single-day harbor-front show on May 2. This decision comes in response to heightened operational requirements at the base, influenced by ongoing global events.
Colonel Jason Parker, commander of Joint Base Charleston, emphasized the necessity of prioritizing operational missions and support for deployed personnel. He stated, “While we value the tradition of the airshow and our relationship with the Lowcountry community, we must prioritize the demands of our current operations and the support to our deployed warfighters.”
The revised airshow will feature performances by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and an F-16 Demo team. The event will take place over the Charleston Harbor, south of the Cooper River Bridge, allowing spectators to view the show from public areas in downtown Charleston and Mount Pleasant. No passes are required for general viewing.
For those who purchased premium seating tickets for the original on-base format, full refunds will be issued. Further updates and information can be found on the Joint Base Charleston Facebook page and official website.
This adjustment underscores how global events can have local impacts, affecting community traditions and requiring adaptability from both organizers and attendees.
